Neuroscience Centre

The objective of the Neuroscience Centre is to treat and research brain and nerve disorders, through preventative and curative services, and specialisation. The Centre specialises in treating brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerve disorders to maintain optimum functions to the brain and nervous system. Microsurgery is a key specialty of the Centre, which is surgery that is conducted under high magnification with miniaturised instruments on microscopic vessels. The Neuroscience Centre uses the latest in medical equipment and is connected with international universities and hospitals, notably the National Neuroscience Institute in Singapore.

The Neuroscience Centre is led by world-reknowned Neurosurgeon and Dean of Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Professor Dr. dr. Eka J Wahjoepramono. Dr.  Eka is the only Neurosurgeon in Indonesia to successfully dissect the brain stem. He is also widely admired for using his work to support the lower socio-economic groups in Indonesia.

The Neuroscience Centre is located at the Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village site and the clinical team includes :

  • Neurosurgeon: diagnoses and treats brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerve disorders through surgery
  • Neurologist: diagnoses, treats and studies the conditions that affect the nervous system (the brain, spinal cord and nerves)
  • Neurorehabilitation: assists recovery and management of nervous system injuries and conditions such as stroke, cerebal palsy, Parkinsons disease, Multiple Schlerosis, and others
  • Neuroradiologist: specialises in the use of radiological equipment such as x-rays to diagnose and treat conditions of the nervous syste
  • Neuroendocrinologist: studies the interaction between the nervous system and the endocrine system which is important in the treatment and understanding of neurobiological brain disorders such as schizophrenia
